Providers

ProdexNet has experience developing providers in all flavors of WBEM - Bluefin/WBEM and WMI.

WMI Providers

These are conceptually similar to SNMP agents. Providers may need to be developed to manage applications, OS components or devices on windows based environments. Providers can be developed to either manage a resource directly or as a proxy. ProdexNet will work with the Client to determine which option works best and will develop the providers accordingly.

WBEM/Bluefin Providers

These are conceptually similar to SNMP agents. SNIA has adopted WBEM as the standard interface to manage storage devices. The specification is called Bluefin. WBEM/Bluefin Providers may need to be developed to manage applications, OS components or devices. These devices would include storage devices. Providers can be developed to either manage a resource directly or as a proxy. The proxy option may be appropriate for storage vendors who have an extensive installed base or who need to provide WBEM interfaces in the short term without having to make changes to the hardware or firmware. ProdexNet will work with the Client to determine which option works best and will develop the providers accordingly.
