ProdexNet has over 8 years in the Enterprise
Network and Systems Management arena. We have developed
extensive domain enterprise in this area including:

to manageability
Often vendors need to develop white papers to better
articulate the value proposition of the manageability
aspects of their products.

Vendors may have extensive domain
knowledge in their core competencies. They will be

in the manageability area, specifically with regards
to where the market in general is and specifically

Software Design and Development Services
ProdexNet has worked with dozens of vendors
in the past 8 years developing manageability solutions
for them. We have designed, developed, supported and
maintained multiple releases of products for various
vendors. Our services include:
Designing, defining and implementing enterprise
level software solutions
We have extensive expertise in designing
management solutions around various standards and technologies
including:
RFID
ProdexNet will work with RFID solution
vendors to round out their RFID offerings with the necessary
manageability components to make them manageable in
a heterogeneous environment:
- Agents and Providers to make
their RFID components manageable via industry standards
like SNMP and WMI/WBEM
- Web based Element Managers to provide
configuration management, asset management, event
management and performance management of RFID components
- Ability to make their RFID components
manageable in existing Enterprise Management environments
like HP OpenView, CA Unicenter, Tivoli, BMC Patrol
etc.

SNMP
SNMP - versions 1, 2 and 3 - Our services
in this area include:
- SNMP Agent development - supporting
multiple versions and multiple OS's
- SNMP based management applications
using multiple technologies - web based, java and
windows based
WBEM,
SMIS and WMI
WBEM, SMIS and WMI - Web Based Enterprise
Management is an industry standard defined by the standards
body - DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force). WMI
is a version of WBEM adopted by Microsoft to provide
manageability for its products. SMIS is based on the
WBEM standard and it has been adopted by the storage
vendors and users in SNIA to be the standard management
interface for networked storage. It was formerly called
Bluefin. ProdexNet is an active member of the DMTF and
SNIA and is a participant in multiple working committees
in the DMTF. ProdexNet has developed extensive expertise
in WBEM/SMIS and related technologies. Our expertise
in this area includes:
- Development of WBEM providers
on multiple OS's - Windows, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX
etc.
- Development of a C/C++ CIMOM which
can also be used as an embedded CIMOM
- WBEM client applications using multiple
client SDK's including those provided by SNIA and
Sun
- WMI/WBEM wrappers to mask WMI data
as WBEM and the reverse. This is useful for interoperability
purposes when there are a mix of WMI providers and
WBEM providers in the environment.
LDAP
ProdexNet has also developed in depth
expertise in the areas of Directory Services - LDAP
and DEN (Directory Enabled Networking). We have developed
WBEM wrappers for LDAP to also expose LDAP data in WBEM
form to allow for interoperability in a DEN environment.
Other
Standards
Some of the other standards ProdexNet has
worked with include DMI, CMIP etc.
We have made extensive use of various
technologies to implement these manageability solutions.
Some of them include:
- Web Technologies - Java, Web
Servers including Apache, IIS and Tomcat
- Database technologies - SQL, ODBC,
JDBC, Oracle/SQL Server/Access etc.
- Multiple platforms - Windows 9x, NT,
Win2k, HP-UX , Solaris, Linux etc.

Integration Services
Often, vendors offer manageability solutions
to their customers that work well stand-alone. Essentially,
these can be considered to be element managers, managers
that manage specific elements produced by the vendor.
However, customers need these manageability solutions
to integrate with industry leading management applications,
so the entire infrastructure can be managed via a single
console. Often, the vendor does not find it cost effective
to train internal staff to ramp up on each of these
complex Enterprise Management Applications, develop
the integrations and continue to maintain them on an
ongoing basis.
We provide a one-stop-shop for vendors
who want to integrate with multiple management applications
like HP OpenView suite of applications, Unicenter TNG,
Tivoli TME, BMC Patrol, Micromuse NetCool, Remedy ARS,
NetIQ AppManager etc.
We have established development partnerships
with several of these vendors and have these applications
installed in our internal laboratories. Some of the
services we offer in this area include:
- Defining the integration specifications
- Developing the integration
- Testing the integrations on the various
versions and platforms/OS's supported by the Enterprise
Management application
- Documenting the integration for the
User Guide
- Providing second level support for
the integration
- Maintaining the integration for defect
fixes, enhancements and version rolls of the vendor's
element manager and the Enterprise Management Applications

Testing and Interoperability Services
Often vendors' management software has
to be tested on multiple platforms and versions of OS.
Further, they will have to be tested across multiple
versions of agents or devices. These testing exercises
can be extensive and resource-intensive. We have the
skill set and experience to efficiently perform such
extensive test matrices thereby easing the pressure
on the vendor's internal resources.

Leveraging our extensive experience in
software development as pertaining to manageability,
we can also offer documentation and support services.
