NetGather/OV - Reporting solution for HP OpenView


OVERVIEW

NetGather For OpenView (NetGather/OV) is a reporting solution that enables Service Providers and Enterprises to correlate and analyze IT infrastructure data being collected by HP OpenView to make critical business decisions.




NetGather/OV accesses and analyzes existing (and real-time) infrastructure data collected by HP OpenView suite of applications; and utilizes extensive business logic to correlate this information and presents it in ready to use business-centric and service-centric reports, views and alerts.

NetGather/OV gathers and analyses the data from the following HP OpenView applications:

  HP OpenView Network Node Manager,
  HP OpenView Operations,
  HP Service Desk
  HP Service Reporter (Measureware).

Web-based (HTML) canned reports that NetGather/OV generates from your existing HP OpenView data Include:

Service Level Management

NetGather allows you to leverage the enormous amounts of data generated by your OpenView applications to measure service levels for the services you deliver and to the customers you deliver the services to. We allow you to create Service Level Agreements (SLA's) on various kinds of data collected by your OpenView applications including:

NetGather continuously monitors that data collected by the OpenView applications and caliberates them against the SLA's that have been defined. Notifications are sent out as soon a it is determined that an SLA has been breached.

Capacity Planning

OpenView applications can be set up to do data collection. Large amounts of interesting data can be collected, except it can get overwhelming very quickly. NetGather makes sense of this data to help you determine whether your infrastructure is performing to levels you expect it to and whether you need to make changes to it to better accommodate your needs. The first step in implementing proactive performance management is to identify existing bottlenecks in the network .This can be accomplished by means of Top N Reports. Top N Reports can reveal current bottlenecks for such key parameters as bandwidth utilization, CPU utilization, and downtime etc.

Inventory/ Asset Management

OpenView applications also collect interesting inventory and asset management related data, except that is is not so easy to glean from the huge volumes of data that is being collected. NetGather presents this information in meaningful terms of your business such that you can determine whether your critical businesses have the appropriate resources from the relevant vendors with the right configurations.

Events

One of the main value propositions of OpenView is the ability to be the one Event Console for the enterprise. However, the volume of events can be overwhelming and it is difficult to make sense of them quickly, especially when it is needed for diagnosing problems.
